At Culture Kingdom Kids’, we take a fun, fresh and culturally relevant approach to enhancing your child’s personal connection to local African American history.  Generals, Squares and Circles Tour with Culture Queen @ the Smithsonian

The nation’s capital is filled with neighborhood squares and circles named after famous people—many from the Civil War period.  From 10:30 a.m. to noon, join Teaching Artist Culture Queen from Culture Kingdom Kids, LLC  as she leads participants on an exciting tour of Washington, DC filled with fun and educational songs while visiting some of the most well-known squares and circles.  From noon to 1:30 p.m. children and families will have the opportunity to create their own original monuments honoring a person of their choice from Anacostia, using a variety of materials.  To learn more about Culture Queen, visit:www.culturekingdomkids.com     $10 transportation fee

Making Toys with Culture Queen @ the Smithsonian

 Join Teaching Artist Culture Queen from Culture Kingdom Kids, LLC as she leads children and families  in exploring the pastimes of children during the Civil War through storytelling, music, movement, arts and crafts. Participants will learn about the playtime toys that were popular during the Civil War as well as have the opportunity to make their own toys as a takeaway.  Each participant will receive a complimentary copy of an exhibition Family and Visitor’s Guide which includes puzzles, games, and an exhibition treasure hunt.
