Before I was Culture Queen, I was 🌸👸🏾Maryland’s Cherry Blossom Princess in 2004. I represented the Maryland State Society during the National Cherry Blossom Festival, an annual celebration of peace and amnesty between Japan and America. Springtime always brings me fond memories of the 3,000 Cherry blossom trees gifted to America from Japan in 1912; and a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet powerful princesses from all 50 states and many countries. We visited every embassy so that we could learn about diverse cultural traditions. That was my favorite part because it opened my eyes to how different cultures celebrate Springtime and royalty. Though it might sound cliche, World peace was truly the order of the day. Pictured here is my family at my coronation. 👸🏾🌸#cherryblossom #cherryblossomdc #cherryblossomfestival #cherryblossomseason #maryland #blackprincess #culturequeen #spring
